In February 2010 my husband and I flew to Alaska in a 3 day, very full weekend of interviews at
Peninsula Community Health Services and were introduced to the Alaskan winter.

We flew up early on a Thursday, interviewed all day Friday, explored the area on Saturday and flew back home Saturday night. The days were short and snowy.

One of my favorite books (the "armchair adventure" kind) is a simple little one titled, "Goodbye, Boise...Hello, Alaska" by Cora Holmes. It's like reading a blog of Cora's real-life on a sheep ranch in the Aleutian Island chain, I think the ranch was called "Chernofsky." She was a nurse and single mother from Idaho who answered an ad for a ranch caretaker in Alaska, so she packed up her two boys and went...and never came back! Very neat life, very fun book :-)
Anyway, great to see you back!
